Indiana Rural Health Association Fellowship Program
The Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) was founded in 1997 with a mission to enhance the health and well-being of rural populations in Indiana through leadership, education, advocacy, collaboration, and resource development. To fulfill our mission, we have established the IRHA Fellowship Program. This program is targeted to students (upper level undergraduate education through graduate/professional school) and early career professionals to better connect with rural leaders around the state and obtain a more comprehensive understanding of public health and healthcare in rural Indiana.
The objectives of this fellowship are:
1. To understand and describe the current status of public health and healthcare in rural Indiana and the country.
2. To develop connections with Indiana’s rural health leaders.
3. To complete a special project with intensive mentorship from IRHA staff and board members.
The fellowship cohort will meet in-person three times:
1. January 21st-22nd: Fellowship meeting and IRHA Policy Congress, Indianapolis
2. June 17th-19th: Fellowship Meeting and IRHA Annual Meeting, French Lick
3. November/December: Presentation to IRHA Board of Directors, Indianapolis
Participants will also be invited to attend the IRHA Spring into Quality, IRHA Leadership Summit, or IRHA Fall Forum based on interest and feedback from IRHA mentor. IRHA will cover registration, meals during events, and lodging (for fellows traveling more than 30 miles from an event). Fellows will need to provide their own transportation for the events.
Fellows will also engage in monthly Zoom calls with fellowship leadership and other fellows for discussion of special project and current rural health and healthcare trends occurring.
