LABEL ME THIS, LABEL ME THAT…THE ROLE OF STIGMA IN SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS AND WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT
This presentation will cover stigma and its impact on substance use disorders. Particular attention will be paid to the opioid epidemic but substance use, in general, will be the main topic of discussion. Concepts, theory, and misconceptions will be a primary focus followed by specific issues and the impact of stigma on substance use disorders and their treatment. Solutions to combatting and reducing stigma at the individual, community, and societal levels will conclude the presentation.
