Joanah Wischmeier, BSN, RN

Joanah Wischmeier, BSN, RN, serves as a Senior Director at IRHA and the Program Director for Healthy Start Communities that C.A.R.E. (HSCC). HSCC is a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant-funded program that focuses on decreasing infant and maternal mortality across Bartholomew, Decatur, Greene, Jennings, and Switzerland counties in Indiana. She participates and oversees the daily operations of HSCC, assures all reporting efforts are complete and submitted in a timely manner, and communicates routinely with all partners to ensure program efforts are progressing and producing positive outcomes.
In addition to her role in HSCC, Joanah also serves as the Program Director for IRHA Help. IRHA Help is powered by findhelp and serves IRHA, its members, as well as all Hoosiers by providing free and reduced-cost direct social services through connecting people and programs to advance access to care and promote overall well-being.
Joanah brings 20+ years’ experience to the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) as a Registered Nurse and also holds her Bachelor of Science in Health Services. In 2013, she received her certification in Coaching Healthy Behaviors from The Cooper Institute. Additionally, in 2016, she received her health coaching certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Incorporating health and wellness promotion in both her professional and personal life, infant and maternal health has been a longtime passion of hers. Leading the HSCC program and having the opportunity to promote women’s health and healthy pregnancies, mother and infant well-being, and father involvement keep her motivated in her work, as these areas have personally impacted her. Her relatability to these efforts helps bring a tailored approach to the HSCC program.
